Lyon legend Sidney Govou is certain that Pierre Sage will not remain on the OL bench beyond the current season.

OL fell back into their ways on Sunday evening. After four victories in a row, the Rhone team got caught in the dust during their opposition against Le Havre (1-3). A setback which comes a few days after the contract extension of interim coach Pierre Sage.

For Govou, “Sage’s OL is overrated”

The latter signed a contract until the end of the financial year. Will it stay beyond this deadline? Sidney Govou, one of the club’s icons, doesn’t believe it. “I have doubts about whether he will continue, he declared on Canal+. Even if it obtains results, the club is not in that perspective. They’re going to look for someone more experienced.”

Sage has a more positive record than Grosso. But, for Govou, he is deceiving himself, even if he recognizes that he brought “a form of stability”. “I think we overestimated what OL did in the last 3 matches of last year. The content was limited, especially against Nantes. They will play it safe until the end,” said the six-time French champion.

OL’s next meetings promise to be complicated. Lacazette and co successively challenge Rennes and Monaco. This is not the ideal timetable for relaunching.
