OL, the nightmarish return to school

Relaunched by a series of three victories before the break, OL fell back heavily in Le Havre this Sunday, not without seeing red twice.

The return to the championship will have been painful for Les Gones. On a good dynamic at the end of the year 2023 – with three successes in a row signed in front of Toulouse, Monaco and Nantes – Pierre Sage’s men were unable to achieve the pass of four this Sunday, cut off in their momentum by a HAC valiant and twirling.

Thanks to Lloris (18e), Sabbi (50e) and Operi (62e), Le Havre won 3-1 at the Océane stadium, barely upset by the reduction in the score for a while on the Lyon side by Lacazette, one of the rare visitors on the legs today (54e). OL had the task all the more complicated as two of their players were sent off in this game: O’Brien (30e) and Caleta Car (90e) – on two direct red cards.

Embarrassing suspensions

In addition to the defeat, Lyon will therefore have to honor the next deadline(s) with a decimated defense. Against Bergerac in the Coupe de France next weekend, then against Rennes or even Marseille in the championship. In the meantime, the Lopes and others fall back into the red zone, ahead on goal difference by a Metz beaten earlier in the day by Toulouse (0-1). The HAC, with six more units on the clock, is 11e.
