In the fight for the Premier League title, Aston Villa came up against Jordan Pickford and failed to beat Everton (0-0), but their Argentinian goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, was also a saving grace.
Little in sight lately, while Aston Villa tries as best they can to get involved in the title race in the Premier League, Emiliano Martinez responded to his detractors by saving his team during the draw (0-0) in Everton’s den, Goodison Park, on Sunday afternoon.
Unai Emery’s men fell on a great Jordan Pickford, Olle Watkins not having sufficiently targeted his attempts, but their Argentinian goalkeeper also pulled out all the stops, notably on a double opportunity from the Toffees of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Garner (45th).
The Villans (with Diego Carlos, Clément Lenglet, Boubacar Kamara and Moussa Diaby) miss the opportunity to join Liverpool at the top of the standings and are content with 3rd place, with one game more than the Reds, Manchester City (tied for points) and Arsenal (with three units less).
Ouch bad memory: exceptional double save from Emiliano Martinez 😳
We know how it feels, Everton fans, take courage ✊#EVEAVL | #PremierLeague pic.twitter.com/VLYP7JQdu9
