The African Cup of Nations is launched. And Seko Fofana offered the first goal of this edition to his Ivory Coast team.

The 2023 African Cup of Nations has well and truly started. This Saturday, the ball was opened by the host country, Ivory Coast, and Guinea-Bissau who face each other in the opening match. The public at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan did not have to wait long to witness the first flash of the game since Seko Fofana opened the scoring in the fourth minute of play.

Unbalanced at the entrance to the opposing area, the former Racing Club de Lens managed to regain his footing before unleashing a low missile which left the opposing goalkeeper no chance. Immediate jubilation in the aisles of the stadium, while Fofana found himself buried under the mass of his teammates who came to congratulate him. The Elephants launched their competition perfectly.
