Olympique Lyonnais has formalized a very important signing for its short-term future.

It was anticipated, it is now official: Pierre Sage continues his mission on the bench of Olympique Lyonnais. The Rhone club announced this Thursday evening the extension of its coach for an additional 6 months. Sage will therefore be in charge of Les Gones until the end of the current financial year, with a lease expiring on June 30, 2024.

“After being appointed on an interim basis on November 30, Olympique Lyonnais decided to extend Pierre Sage’s mission with the professional team until the end of the season, indicates OL in an official press release. The 44-year-old technician played an important role in the recent sporting recovery of OL, exiting the relegation zone thanks to three consecutive victories obtained at the end of 2023 and recently qualifying for the round of 16 of the French Cup. »

Pierre Sage, a logical reward

Former assistant coach of Lyon-La Duchère and Red Star, Pierre Sage was appointed director of the Academy in June 2023, after a first stint at the club between 2019 and 2022 in the U17 category. For the second part of the season, Pierre Sage, still accompanied by Jérémie Bréchet and Rémy Vercoutre, saw his staff strengthened with the arrival of Jamal Alioui, former professional player trained at OL, and Damien Della Santa, development specialist individual“, concludes the club.

Third coach of the season after Laurent Blanc and Fabio Grosso, Pierre Sage managed to get OL out of the red zone, while reuniting his squad.
