The 1998 world champion is not the only Zidane to be without a club. The same goes for his eldest son, Enzo, who may have to decide to end his career.
Enzo Zidane undoubtedly dreamed big when in the summer of 2013, he was offered his first professional contract by Real Madrid. The eldest son of Zinedine Zidane was nevertheless essentially confined to the reserve team, having for the rest to be content with a single professional match in addition to training sessions shared with Cristiano Ronaldo or Karim Benzema.
In 2017, the Bordeaux native had to resign himself to leaving the Merengue club. After an inconclusive loan to Alaves, the attacking midfielder then headed to Lausanne where he tried to get his career off the ground. In vain. Enzo Zidane would then move on to clubs, mainly in the second division. In the summer of 2021, he joined Rodez, of which his father is one of the minority shareholders. But the adventure in L2 was not a great success, nor was his season at Fuenlabrada, a Spanish third division club, his last experience.
Without a club since last summer, Enzo Zidane now seems to be in an impasse. And according to L’Equipe, the eldest of the Zidane siblings, father of a one and a half year old little girl, is considering calling it quits after having played 119 career matches in order to prioritize his family life.
