Both teams had the opportunity to move closer to European places, but Roma and Atalanta were unable to decide between them. Everything started well for Atalanta. Gian Piero Gasperini’s team opened the scoring early in the match through Teun Koopmeiners (0-1, 8th). The Dutchman scored with a header from close range. At the end of the first period, Paulo Dybala could equalize from a penalty (1-1, 39th). Less visible this year, the Argentinian scored his fourth goal this season.

In the second half, neither Paulo Dybala nor Romelu Lukaku managed to make a difference with their different shots. For protest, José Mourinho was sent off in added time. At the end of the match, neither team performed well with this draw. Halfway through the championship, Atalanta is 6th in the standings. Roma remains behind its neighbor Lazio, but ahead of Napoli.
