Delort, the frightening malaise

Andy Delort caused a huge scare to the players on the field and to the supporters of the match between the Qatari clubs Umm-Salal and Al Arabi. The Algerian suffered a bout of illness that ultimately caused no damage.

The match played this Saturday by Andy Delort, as part of the Coupe des Etoiles, was not easy. First early scorer in this match played in Qatar between his club Umm-Salal and Al-Arabi (6th), the Algerian international striker suddenly collapsed to the ground a few minutes later while he was isolated. Immediately, the doctors came running, while he was having a convulsion. Immediate and visible concern from his teammates present on the pitch, then the player was evacuated.

No news for a long time, and then as the end of the match loomed, the former Montpellier and Nantes striker reappeared at the edge of the pitch, chatting in particular with an individual and shaking his hand. Relief for the thirty-two-year-old offensive player who celebrated his team’s victory at the end of this Qatar Stars Cup final (4-4, 3-1 on the tabs).

Since joining Qatar, Andy Delort has taken part in twelve matches, finding the net five times, while providing four assists. He left FC Nantes last summer after a complicated episode with the Canaries.

Here he is now titled with his new team. Enough to put a smile back on his face, he who is under contract with Umm-Salal until June 2025.
