If Mbappé showed up in the mixed zone on Wednesday it was to “claim his freedom” according to a recognized journalist.

Last Wednesday, after PSG’s victory against Toulouse in the Champions Trophy, Kylian Mbappé appeared in front of journalists to discuss his personal case. He gave no indication of his future intentions, but he did offer food for thought to journalists.

“Mbappé came to claim his freedom”

How can we interpret this exit, which was not necessarily planned when the Bondyn crack player has been free to sign with the team of his choice since January 1? Vincent Duluc, journalist from The Team, has his own idea on the matter. “For me it was ‘Let me chat with whoever I want now.’ Otherwise, what’s the point of coming to a mixed zone if he wants to stay? He comes more to claim freedom than anything else.”

An opinion shared by his colleague Damien Degorre, follower of PSG for several years. “I understand that he does not want to announce his decision too early, because there is a second half of the season still to play. He opens a door when he leaves.”

Mbappé suggested that he could still wait until the end of the season before deciding on his future. For Duluc, the verdict could come much sooner. “For the club, it would be better (for him to decide) before the 8th round, but nothing obliges him to do so. It can be done very quickly, before the Champions League.”
