Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has reprimanded his players for complaining to the referee, following their 1-0 win over Real Mallorca.

Mallorca committed 15 fouls during the match, compared to just 5 for Los Blancos, but only received three bookings, compared to Madrid’s two, after Rodrygo Goes was reprimanded for protesting. Ancelotti was asked about the referee after the match, as Los Blancos disputed that Siebe van der Heyden could have received a second yellow for a tackle on Rodrygo.

Ancelotti warns his men

“He is young, this referee has quality, there were small details, cards, we protested a lot, too much in my opinion, it is not good,” Ancelotti told Diario AS. “We have to see that we can collect yellow cards by protesting, I don’t like that. He could have been a little fairer, but he is a young referee and he has quality.”

Real Madrid television has consistently criticized referees throughout the season, while Ancelotti and his teammates have asked Vinicius Junior to pay less attention to the referee and more to his football.
