Barca president Joan Laporta hopes to see three wishes come true in 2024 for his club.

Overall, 2023 has been a successful year for FC Barcelona. The club won La Liga for the first time in four years, while also clinching the Spanish Super Cup in January, a trophy they hope to retain next month. However, the second half of the year has been difficult, leaving the Barcelona side only fourth in the current La Liga standings, seven points behind Real Madrid and Girona.

Joan Laporta spoke to Sport at the end of the year and, during the interview, he exposed his “three big wishes” for FC Barcelona in 2024: a sporting wish, a social wish and a wish economic. The Blaugrana president first wants FC Barcelona to return to the new Camp Nou Spotify on November 29. At this point, it seems possible, given that Limak has consistently met the stadium construction deadlines so far.

The second objective is for FC Barcelona to win titles. Next month’s Spanish Super Cup would be a start. La Liga seems the least likely at this stage. Laporta’s third wish is for Barcelona to reach their budget for this season, which stands at 859 million euros. This would allow the club to make a profit of €11 million, which is necessary given the current state of its finances.

It remains to be seen how many of these objectives FC Barcelona will be able to achieve. The last one is perhaps the most crucial for the club’s long-term future, but the other two are also very important, especially for the Blaugrana boss.
