On Friday, Spanish sources reported that FC Barcelona had planned to speak with the agent of 16-year-old Estevao “Messinho” Willian.

The young winger has attracted interest from several top European clubs after making an impressive breakthrough at Brazilian champions Palmeiras. According to Brazilian media outlet UOL Esporte, FC Barcelona are currently leading the race for Estevao’s signature, while Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are lagging behind. The teenager is a notorious FC Barcelona supporter, which certainly helps the Catalan team.

However, Palmeiras, who already agreed a deal to sell Endrick Felipe to Real Madrid last year, are in no rush to sell their new young prodigy. Estevao cannot join a European club until the summer of 2025, so the Brazilian giants have plenty of time on their hands.

There is no doubt that Estevao is a great talent and would be a very interesting signing for FC Barcelona. This news is also good for the Catalan club, who are unlikely to be able to offer a contract at this stage due to their financial problems. PSG will have to turn to other targets.
