Mason Greenwood has made a big impression at Getafe since being sent on a season-long loan from Manchester United over the summer.
The 22-year-old winger is adored by the Madrid club, but the chances of keeping him permanently are slim, despite the Premier League club’s desire to sell. Getafe would be unaffordable for Greenwood, but according to information in England, relayed by MD, this would not be the case for Barcelona, despite their current financial difficulties. The Catalans are reportedly set to offer €45 million to Man United, which would be a very significant offer for a player who is unlikely to play for the Premier League club again.
To sweeten the deal, Barcelona would be ready to offer Greenwood the number 10 jersey, vacated by Ansu Fati during the summer. The 21-year-old is expected to be sold next summer upon his return from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Greenwood’s arrival at Barcelona would be extremely controversial, given the circumstances which led to his departure from Man United over the summer. Furthermore, it would be very surprising if FC Barcelona paid 45 million euros, especially since they do not need another right winger.
