FC Barcelona will seek to return to La Liga this Wednesday during its opposition against Almeria.
FC Barcelona, who have not won any of their last three competitive matches, will be keen to end 2023 with a victory when they host struggling Almeria on Wednesday.
Barça must react
There are no better conditions to relaunch because their opponents of the day are last in the standings and they have not had the slightest success this season.
Xavi’s team is therefore approaching this meeting with great pressure given that they have not had a victory for three games. Last weekend, they were caught again by Valencia. The Blaugrana looked on course to take maximum points when Joao Felix scored his third league goal of the season from close range, but they ultimately had to settle for a share of the points after Hugo Guillamon’s equalizer at in the 70th minute, extending Barcelona’s streak of four away winless matches.
With three wins, two draws and two defeats in the last seven league matches, the lack of consistency has seriously compromised Barcelona’s chances of retaining their title.
With a delay of seven points in first place, Xavi must redress the situation, starting with Wednesday’s match against Almeria, the red lantern in the championship.
Barça have won all seven of their home matches against Almeria in the top flight and have gone five matches without conceding a goal, including in the last home encounter in November 2022, where goals from Ousmane Dembele and by Frenkie de Jong made it possible to win 2-0.
Xavi would certainly welcome another clean sheet this Wednesday, having seen his side concede goals in five of their last six home matches in all competitions.
The probable line-ups of Barcelona – Almeria

Almeria: Maximiano; Montes, Gonzalez, Chumi; Pozo, Lopy, Baba, Akieme; Arribas, Embarba, Baptistao.
