In search of a replacement for Gavi, Barça is considering two former Paris Saint-Germain players.
FC Barcelona have been hit hard by Gavi’s injury, who will be out until the end of the season. The young Spanish midfielder is one of the team’s most important players, and his absence is a big blow for the Blaugrana.
To compensate for this loss, coach Xavi asked his leaders to recruit reinforcement for his midfield. “We are always looking to strengthen the team. With Gavi’s injury, we need a player of this profile, but it’s difficult, said the former Blaugrana metronome. We will see what we can do with financial fair play. We work with Deco and the president.”
According to information from the Sport newspaper, Barça would have their eyes on two former Paris Saint-Germain players: Marco Verratti and Adrien Rabiot. The Italian, currently under contract with Al Arabi until June 2025, could be a loan target, while the 2022 runner-up, whose contract with Juventus ends in June 2023, could be targeted for a free recruitment during the next summer transfer window.

However, the road to strengthening the Culés midfield appears to be fraught with pitfalls, with financial challenges to overcome and potential demands from both players that could complicate negotiations. The outcome of these negotiations remains uncertain, but FC Barcelona is actively exploring options to compensate for the significant loss of Gavi and maintain its ambitions throughout the season.
