The winner of the 2023-2024 Champions League can hope to receive a very big check. Here is the amount of bonuses paid to the clubs participating in the competition.
The Champions League is almost over! At least in the current form, with eight groups of four teams then a knockout phase from the round of 16. If the change decided by UEFA from next season is supposed to bring in more money, this format already allowed the winner to amass a nice jackpot.
Before switching to the new formula, at the start of the 2024 school year, and while the draw for the round of 16 was made this Monday at noon, here is how much the clubs participating in the competition earn. During the group stage, each victory brings in 2.8 million euros while a draw allows the two teams to earn €930,000 each.
A check for €85 million!
From the knockout matches, everything increases: audiences, pressure and bonuses. The sum paid to each team qualified for the round of 16 is 9.6 million euros, then it increases to 10.6 million for the quarters. If a club advances to the last four of the competition, it receives a check for 12.5 million euros.
A place in the Champions League final ensures 15.5 million for each of the two participants, while the big winner of the 2024 edition receives an additional 4.5 million euros. Thus, if a club achieves a flawless performance from the first day until the title, it can win the tidy sum of 85.14 million euros!
