A major figure in German football believes that Toni Kroos would make a huge mistake by accepting a comeback within the Mannschaft.
The honorary president of Bayern Munich, Uli Hoeness, is opposed to a return of Toni Kroos to the German team.
A return of Kroos? “A signal from Titanic”
The Real Madrid midfielder recently spoke about the possibility of coming out of international retirement and playing for his country again. He has the Euro at home in his sights and many encourage him in this direction.
But Hoeness is firmly opposed to it. He told Servus TV: “It would be a real signal from Titanic. I don’t think he can save German football. He’s an exceptional footballer, but…”
When it was pointed out to Hoeness that many German consultants were calling for Kroos to return, he added: “They always know everything better than us, even if they don’t know. And they did nothing other than be footballers. I don’t worry too much about TV commentators.”
Kroos has 106 caps and 17 goals scored with his national team. In 2014, he was one of the great architects of the fourth World Cup won by Germany.
