Owner of Olympique Lyonnais for several weeks, John Textor is finally finalizing the purchase of all shares in the Rhone club.

During the summer of 2022, when John Textor decided to buy Olympique Lyonnais from Jean-Michel Aulas, the American businessman promised to acquire all of the shares of the former president, half of the Osranes, the bonds convertible into shares issued for the construction of Groupama Stadium held by Holnest, while taking over the shares held by Pathé and IDG Capitals. After months of discussions, this set of purchases will finally be finalized by Eagle Football Holdings. Indeed, this Thursday, the company led by John Textor filed a takeover bid for 10.24% of the capital of OL. “On June 22, 2023, Natixis, acting on behalf of Eagle Football Holdings Bidco Limited, filed with the Autorité des marchés financiers a draft simplified tender offer for the shares of Olympique Lyonnais Groupe »said the AMF in a press release.

Sales to pass the DNCG

A year after the first negotiations and several postponements, this final takeover will be for a sum of nearly 53 million euros. An announcement that did not surprise the followers of the Lyon club, knowing that for a few hours, the action of OL Groupe had been suspended “at the request of the company, pending publication of a press release and until further notice”. Now totally under the American flag, OL will return to the stock market this Friday. John Textor now has all the cards in hand to make OL the club of his dreams. In the coming weeks, changes will take place at Les Gones since the sale of OL Féminin to the American Michele Kang must be finalized before July, while the American club OL Reign will also be sold. Thanks to all this money, Textor should therefore pass before the financial policeman of French football, namely the DNCG, with a certain tranquility at the end of the month.
