Luton Town and the entire Premier League are holding their breath. Tom Lockyer, the defender and captain of the team promoted this season, fell ill, on the hour mark, on the Bournemouth pitch (the score was then 1-1). The match was interrupted and subsequently stopped permanently and the 29-year-old was conscious before being taken to hospital.

The problem, for Tom Lockyer, is that he has already collapsed on a football field, on May 27, during the final of the Championship accession playoffs (victory on penalties against Coventry City at Wembley). The Welsh international suffered a heart attack at the start of the match. Tests revealed that he suffered from heart rhythm problems.
Lockyer underwent surgery over the summer and was given the green light by doctors to continue playing at the high level. This Cardiff native discovered the Premier League, but will perhaps have played his 16th and final match in this championship.
