While Seville supporters are victims of a travel ban, Sang et Or fans are ready to leave some of their seats in Bollaert to allow them to attend the Champions League meeting between the two clubs.
It’s a decision that’s making people talk. On Sunday, in an interview with Brut, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced the travel ban on Spanish supporters for the Champions League match between Lens and Seville on Tuesday evening. A measure confirmed this Monday morning by the Prefecture.
This decision, which is a response to the death of a Nantes supporter on the sidelines of the match against Nice a week ago, provoked the anger of Lensois supporters. In a letter addressed to the minister, Sunday evening, the Red Tigers 1944 expressed their solidarity with the Andalusians, whom they promise to welcome despite everything, “even if it means leaving our seats to bring them into the stands”.

Sevilla FC angry
A strong gesture, which is a response to the “ irresponsible and unfair management” authorities. “For you and your prefects, the travel ban is an easy solution, used indiscriminately, and which becomes disproportionate and difficult to justify,” curse the Lensois ultras, who recall that there were several thousand this season in Seville, Eindhoven and London, and that everything went well. There is therefore no reason to penalize Spanish supporters, especially less than 48 hours before the match when they “have already reserved and paid for their means of transport, their places and their hotel nights and do not have to put up with your incompetence.“
In a press release, the Andalusian club also expressed its incomprehension and anger. “Sevilla FC is taking steps with the Spanish government to try to ensure that this ban is not applied, as many supporters have already had confirmations of flights and travel to France to attend in the match against Lens, explains the club in particular. Sevilla FC considers that harm is being caused to its supporters and that a dangerous precedent is being created in terms of fan movements. »
