Antoine Griezmann has insisted he is only focused on the present moment at Atlético Madrid.
Griezmann has been a crucial player for Diego Simeone’s side since the start of the 2023/24 campaign with 13 goals scored in La Liga and the Champions League.
Although Simeone has already hinted that he will rest Griezmann for some matches, the striker has shown resilience in avoiding injuries and wants to play a key role.
In recent weeks, the French international has moved closer to a record in club history, with a total of 170 goals for Atlético and 173 for Luis Aragones.
Griezmann is certain to break this barrier in the near future and could do so before the end of 2023.
However, the pressure is not weighing very heavily on Griezmann as the countdown continues, and for now, he is not thinking about it.
“I’m scoring goals and the record is getting closer. But Luis Aragones’ record is also a goal, an illusion, a dream”reports Marca.
“ I go ! But I have to keep a cool head, not do anything crazy when it comes to shooting or creating chances, the goals will come by themselves.”
Griezmann is on course to set a new personal record for goals in La Liga, with nine goals so far.
