Pablo Longoria is working on two leads to find the OM coach. Marcelino is his favourite, but Christophe Galtier is clearly making the Marseille president dream for what would be a huge surprise.

The month of June, which always follows the end of the football season in Europe, is often conducive to the game of musical chairs for coaches. Before even being able to attack the transfer window, the presidents must find the conductor and consult him all the same at least before bringing in players. At OM, the project is still in progress after the resignation of Igor Tudor, and the successive refusals of Marcelo Gallardo and Paulo Fonseca. A name is now put forward, that of Marcelino, who has the advantage of being free. Especially since it is a trainer that Pablo Longoria appreciates enormously, perhaps even too much. Indeed, in private, the president of OM wonders if his proximity to the Spanish technician who took him on as a member of his staff when he worked in Huelva 15 years ago, will not prevent a relationship healthy relationship between the coach and his superior.

Marcelino too close to Longoria?

A problem that is not trivial, as Pablo Longoria, in the system he has put in place of permanent trading, coaches are worn out and thrown away like handkerchiefs after a season in general. Even if the results can be there, the technicians can’t hold out over time and Igor Tudor and Jorge Sampaoli demonstrate this.

This is why a plan B is still under study according to L’Equipe. Admitting that Marcelino is now plan A, Pablo Longoria would still like to bring Christophe Galtier to OM. The coach still in place at PSG was shown the exit, but as long as the capital club has not found his successor, the French technician has no agreement in sight for his severance pay. Nevertheless, Galtier’s profile has a lot of supporters at the Robert Louis-Dreyfus center, where his son and agent is sometimes received with the red carpet. The Marseille management appreciates his experience in Ligue 1 and his ability to work with recruitment where he does not necessarily intervene a lot.

Going to the end of this track will be complicated, as a quick passage between PSG and OM is unusual for a coach, who also has some extra-sporting business which could weaken him in the months to come. Real brakes and which therefore put Marcelino on the front of the stage. But by dint of stumbling over the position of head coach, the name of Christophe Galtier is still under consideration and he could climb further in the event of failure with the Spaniard in the coming days.
