French legend, Thierry Henry, has named the player who, in his eyes, is currently the best performing defender in England.
Thierry Henry, the former great scorer for Arsenal and the French team, considers William Saliba to be the best defender in the Premier League.
For Henry, “Arsenal made a mistake with Saliba”
The coach of the French youth team made this statement at a time when Saliba was ignored by Blues coach Didier Deschamps. He said about it: “At the moment I think Saliba is the best defender in the Premier League. His one-on-one defending, the way he allows Arsenal to play higher and the way he protects the area behind him is second to none. I worked in France when he was on loan to Marseille. I was surprised Arsenal didn’t keep him because he was better than those who stayed in the team.”
For Henry, it is a certainty that the former Olympian is today a reference to his position across the Channel. “But he went out on loan, came back and showed everyone it was a mistake. Today, he is the best defender in the championship.”
