Recruited at a high price in the summer of 2022 – 95 million euros – from Ajax Amsterdam, Antony has so far not shown much in the colors of Manchester United. Although he had some good moments last year, the Brazilian is no longer putting one foot in front of the other this season. This is demonstrated by his starving statistics, since he has still not scored a single goal or delivered a single assist in 14 TCC matches. Obviously highly criticized across the Channel, the right winger is often targeted by the club’s former glories, such as Rio Ferdinand, Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes. And he can’t take it anymore.

“Today I see criticism coming from former players of the club and other people in the media, who express their opinions unreasonably and influence thousands of fans, sometimes even when I am not playing”notes Antony to the media The United Stand. He pursues : “But I never saw them give constructive criticism, which would help me become a better professional. None of them ever messaged me to see how I was feeling, especially during the turbulent times I’m going through. I am quietly rebuilding myself, and I know that I will be able to be at my best physically and mentally and overcome all these obstacles and challenges that come my way, because it has always been this way in my life. No one ever gave me anything, I always fought for everything I got! I would like to know how these people who make these unfair and malicious criticisms would have handled themselves in my place.” Strong words from Antony who hopes to return to his best form, as well as a little more support from the former Red Devils legends.
