Like all Real Madrid followers, Zinédine Zidane is waiting for Carlo Ancelotti’s extension (or not). Casa Blanca plans to sign a new contract with the Italian coach next March.
By leaving Real Madrid in May 2021, Zinédine Zidane expected to quickly find a new challenge on the sidelines. Two and a half years later, it’s nothing. “Zizou” waited in vain for the departure of Didier Deschamps from the post of coach of the France team, while twice refusing advances from Qatar to lead PSG. His return to Casa Blanca in 2024 should not materialize either!
Zidane would be President Florentino Pérez’s priority in the event of Carlo Ancelotti’s departure, but it is the extension of the Italian technician who is in full preparation. Despite an agreement with the Brazilian federation to take the reins of the Seleçao, Ancelotti agrees to sign a new contract (one season plus an optional second). He would have even demanded the extension of Toni Kroos (also at the end of his contract next June).
El País adds this Tuesday that Ancelotti’s extension will take place next March, just after the knockout stages of the Champions League (return matches 7-8 and 14-15 March). Will Real’s management change their mind in the event of a surprise elimination in the round of 16? Will the Zidane option suddenly come back on the table? It is not certain. Already assured of first place in its group (with 5 victories), the team led by Jude Bellingham will find out its future opponent on December 18.
