Almost 38 years old, André-Pierre Gignac scored a double against Puebla (3-0), allowing the Tigres into the quarter-final second leg of the Mexican championship.

André-Pierre Gignac hit hard two days before his 38e birthday. The former Marseillais indeed scored a double on Sunday, while the Tigres hosted Puebla in the quarter-final second leg of the Mexican championship.

After opening the score from a penalty, the Frenchman doubled the lead with a magnificent free kick from 25 meters thanks to a shot sent into the top corner. Enough to allow him to get a little closer to 200 goals with the Tigers, APG having scored his 198e and 199e goal with the Monterey club.

In the end, the Tigres won 3-0, with Nico Ibanez adding a third goal on a scissors, and qualified for the semi-finals of the Mexican championship where they will face the Pumas. In the first leg, André-Pierre Gignac’s teammates had drawn the match (2-2).
