Pep Guardiola has been in charge of Manchester City since 2016. He is still under contract there for the long term, but it is not certain that he will stay in this position forever. The Catalan coach could have other ambitions for the rest of his career. This is what one of his closest confidants is convinced of.
Guardiola attracted by the role of coach
Guillem Balague, the Spanish journalist, spoke about Guardiola’s future during a program for the CBS Sports media outlet Golazo. He could very well see him at the head of a national team in the near future. “If he is physically fit enough, I think he will be able to do something else. The idea is to take charge of a national selection. And he’s spoiled for choice in that regard. England, Italy, the Netherlands, Argentina and Brazil.”

Guardiola has several options, but there would be one that would tempt him more than the others. “England, he knows the players. He made these players better. We are talking about 2026 and we do not yet know what will happen to Gareth Southgate. What if I told him about this position? It’s not necessarily necessary.” added Balague.
In its history, England has only had two foreign coaches at its head. And they weren’t very big successes. The Swede Sven Goran Eriksson and the Italian Fabio Capello led it without winning trophies and without really convincing.
