Thomas Tuchel, the former PSG coach, looked back on the relationship he had with his players within the Ile-de-France club.
Thomas Tuchel left PSG three years ago, but he has not forgotten anything about this experience. He remembers the good memories, but also the bad ones. And among the things he didn’t appreciate during his stay in the French capital was the way his star players operated. He returned to this subject in detail in an interview with the daily Bild.
PSG changed Tuchel
“In Paris, for example, the rules are completely different than here. This helps me understand my players better. When I hear here at Bayern, a certain behavior from a player is unacceptable, it makes me laugh because I say to myself: you don’t know what we had to face in Paris! “, did he declare. The 2021 European champion coach is probably referring to Neymar, and all his unauthorized outings by the club.
“It makes me calmer. I understand better why the behavior of certain players. I give them more space than I would have been able to before if I had stayed in Germany my whole career”added Tuchel.
The coach, author of the best result in C1 on the Paris bench, admitted to having had to round his nails more than once when he was coaching in France. “The group is always ready to support a superstar who always scores. The problem is when the superstar doesn’t give anything back to the group or doesn’t show respect (…) Some people also need to be highlighted, we shouldn’t make them smaller than they are. These are only the top players, it doesn’t matter. They score your goals.”
