Olivier Giroud missed a penalty in the 6th minute during Milan-Dortmund, and it could cost the Rossoneri dearly.

This Milan-Dortmund, decisive for qualification for the round of 16 of the Champions League, is off to a very bad start for Olivier Giroud. The French international had the opportunity to open the scoring, with this penalty whistled for a handball from Schlötterbeck on a strike from Chukwueze. But the Milan center forward saw his attempt repelled by Köbel, the German goalkeeper (6th).

The nightmare of Giroud and Milan continued in the minutes that followed with a penalty this time conceded by the Rossoneri, for a foul by Calabria on Bynoe-Gittens. Unlike Giroud, Marco Reus did not tremble when carrying out the sentence, easily deceiving Mike Maignan (0-1, 10th).

It’s a hard blow for Giroud, who is rather very skillful on the penalty spot. According to figures from Transfermakt, the former Montpellier player has scored 32, including three this season in Serie A, and this is only his third miss. But this is the second failure in a row in the Champions League, after that against Naples last spring.
