Golazo, the Sports.fr and French Football Weekly podcast, looks back on the decisive influence of Fayza Lamari in the career of her son Kylian Mbappé. In 2015, the parents of the French prodigy sought to partner with a sports rights lawyer and then chose a woman, Delphine Verheyden.
Kylian Mbappé is also the subject of a great family adventure. Before Kylian, Wilfrid Mbappé took Jirès Kembo Ekoko (son of a Zairian international of whom he became the legal guardian) under his wing, sending him to the INF Clairefontaine for pre-training then to the Stade training center Rennes. Building on this experience, the former AS Bondy coach then decided with his wife, Fayza Lamari, to take care of the career of his son Kylian, born in December 1998.
After Clairefontaine like his big brother, Kylian Mbappé joined the AS Monaco training center and his parents, who refused to associate with agents (even saying no to the Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes), then looked for a sports rights lawyer to support them. It was a few months before the promising striker’s professional debut in December 2015 (when he was about to celebrate his 17th birthday).
As told in our podcast Golazo, Fayza Lamari was already in charge of the project. The Bondynoise, former leisure center facilitator (in addition to being a French D1 handball player), met lawyers without telling them that she was the child’s mother, and was not convinced. She then chose a lawyer, Delphine Verheyden, who was already taking care of Teddy Riner and Martin Fourcade, rejoicing at this snub to the male world of football.
