The clash of the 13th day of the Premier League between Manchester City and Liverpool resulted in a draw (1-1). Not without tension at the end of the meeting.
After 23 consecutive victories at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City had to settle for a draw against Liverpool this Saturday in the 13e lifting of the Premier League (1-1). After Erling Haaland opened the scoring for the locals in the first half, Trent Alexander-Arnold equalized for the Reds late in the match, allowing his side to stay just one length behind their hosts of the day.

At the end of the match, an altercation broke out between Darwin Nunez and Pep Guardiola, the Uruguayan striker having insistently asked the Catalan technician if he had appreciated Liverpool’s equalizer. The tone rising quickly, Jürgen Klopp then worked to isolate his player, clearly ready to do battle with the Cityzens coach.

Why such a knee-jerk reaction? You have to go back to 1er last April and the previous confrontation between the two teams to understand. That day, Manchester City dominated Liverpool 4-1, but not without conceding the opener. When Julian Alvarez equalized, Pep Guardiola exulted on the edge of the field, somewhat annoying Darwin Nunez while warming up. The Celeste scorer had obviously not digested this scene…
