Paris Saint-Germain is entering a new pivotal period in its season. Before playing for survival in the Champions League against Newcastle next Tuesday, the capital club welcomes AS Monaco for the 13th day of Ligue 1. Leaders of the standings with 12 points, the Red and Bleu have a small point lead over Nice and three over their opponent of the day.
Suffice to say that Paris does not want to fail in front of its public against a team which is used to coming to play the annoying duty on duty at the Parc des Princes. On paper, PSG has the means to rule the roost. Salt worry: Luis Enrique must deal with a cascade of injuries, including those of Marquinhos and Warren Zaire-Emery. Two major absentees which leave uncertainty surrounding the Spaniard’s composition.
Uncertainty in defense, classic in front
To challenge the Asemists, Paris should still line up a 4-2-4 with Gianluigi Donnarumma in the cages. In front of him, a four-man defense made up of Achraf Hakimi, Danilo Pereira, Milan Skriniar and Lucas Hernandez. In the middle, Manuel Ugarte and Fabian Ruiz should be supported by Vitinha positioned as a false left winger. Up front, it’s classic with Ousmane Dembélé, Randal Kolo Muani and Kylian Mbappé.
Opposite, Adi Hütter would line up a 3-4-2-1. Philipp Köhn will keep the princely cages, behind a three-man defense made up of Wilfried Singo, Guillermo Maripan and Soungoutou Magassa. Vanderson and Ismaïl Jakobs would come to liven up the corridors and flesh out a midfield composed of Denis Zakaria and Mohamed Camara. Finally, the attacking trio Maghnes Akliouche, Wissam Ben Yedder, Aleksandr Golivin will be responsible for shaking the nets.
