The return of Julien Stéphan to Stade Rennais is not necessarily unanimous among informed observers of the Breton club.

Two and a half years after his departure, Julien Stéphan is back home. The young French technician succeeded Bruno Genesio on the Stade Rennais bench. A new turn which questions certain observers, like Pierre Ménès.
If the former Canal + journalist does not have excellent relations with Julien Stéphan, Ménès above all questions the relevance of this choice, imposed by the owner according to him.

“It’s true, in Rennes he did a good job at the start, and he had a good first season in Strasbourg at the start. I think Stéphan is one of those coaches who performs well in the first year because he has great ideas, he has a new way of talking, and I think that over time it tires the players. All I know is that I had no problem with Julien Stéphan when he was in Rennes but that it was the Rennes players who alerted me, one by one, to his behavior. And stop talking to me about M’Baye Niang and Clément Grenier. There were many other players and other members, other components of the club, who were in conflict with Julien Stéphan.”
“I am extremely doubtful about this boy’s ability…,” continued Pierre Ménès. Making something new with something old… It was imposed by Pinault. I know that it doesn’t just make people happy, far from it. But hey, that’s their problem“, concluded the journalist on his YouTube channel.
