Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the thigh injury of Marquinhos, who will notably miss the reception of Newcastle in the Champions League.

Like many major European clubs, Paris Saint-Germain will have been affected by the Fifa virus during this international break. In addition to Warren Zaire-Emery, injured in the ankle with the France team and absent until January, it is Marquinhos who also returned injured from selection.

The Brazilian defender injured his thigh during the clash against Argentina (0-1) in the Amsud Zone qualifiers, and PSG gave news of its captain in its medical press release of the day. “Victim of a small injury to his right hamstring, Marquinhos will remain in treatment for 10 days”thus indicates the capital club.

As was feared, Marquinhos will miss the clash against Monaco on Friday evening at the Parc des Princes, opening the 13th day of Ligue 1, and he will be absent for the very important duel against Newcastle next Tuesday, as part of the 5th day of the Champions League. His presence on the pitch in Le Havre the following Sunday also remains very hypothetical.

It’s a blow for Luis Enrique, who saw Marquinhos as an indisputable starter alongside Milan Skriniar. The Brazilian has only missed three Ligue 1 matches this season, and he has started every Champions League game so far.
