The Senegalese Federation has written to Fifa to request the disqualification of the French men’s team currently participating in the U17 World Cup.
The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) requests the “disqualification of the French team from the U17 World Cup for fielding an ineligible player”. This is what is written in a letter sent to Fifa on Wednesday November 22, the day of the victory of the “little” Bleuets against their Senegalese opponents in the round of 16 (0-0, 5 tab to 3).
What fault do we blame the French leaders for? That of having aligned Yanis Issoufou during the group stage. The Montpellier striker played in the Niger jersey in a qualifying competition for the U17 CAN “Algeria 2023”, itself a qualifier for the 2023 U17 World Cup, argues the FSF.

However, as it is written in the letter to Fifa, “ this player played two official tournaments (CAF and Fifa) of the same category and the same Fifa competition (U17) with two different nationalities. »
And article 8, underlines the Senegalese Federation, that a player “ is not allowed to play for his new association in any competition in which he previously participated for his former association. »
This request should have been made five days before the start of the U17 World Cup to be qualified as admissible, further indicates The Team.
Burkina Faso, the French’s opponent in the group stage, had also raised doubts surrounding Yanis Issoufou.
