During the last winter transfer window, Arsenal struck a nice blow by securing the services of a very promising 22-year-old central defender, Jakub Kiwior. Against a check for €25 million (+€5 million) in bonus, the Gunners recovered a player enjoying a good reputation in Italy from La Spezia over the space of 18 months (39 Serie A matches).
Rather fast despite his imposing size (1m89), this solid left-hander, capable of playing in the corridor and even a step higher, in the middle of the field, can rely on a very good reading of the game and an interesting quality of recovery thanks to above-average technique. Ten months later, the results are mixed for the Polish defensive rock, but ultimately logical. If he does not play much with the London club (8 matches in all competitions) it is because he is not 100% ready, but also because the usual central hinge (Gabriel-Saliba) is difficult to dislodge .

The fact remains that Mikel Arteta believes a lot in him and the Iberian coach notes the player’s progress every week in training. Proof of his good form, his good performances in the national team where he is an indisputable starter with Poland.
