Neymar’s tumultuous injury history at Paris Saint-Germain could have been anticipated, as he reportedly arrived in 2017 with a stress fracture in his ankle.

The Brazilian left Barcelona six years ago for a record fee of €222 million that has never been matched. Despite numerous domestic successes, Neymar’s time in the French capital is widely considered disappointing, not least because he failed to bring the Ile-de-France team European success.

However, this disappointment can largely be explained by the striker’s series of injuries, which began upon his arrival in Paris.

Neymar injured from the start

According to The Teamthe Brazilian international arrived at the Parc des Princes with a stress fracture in his ankle, more precisely in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot.

Neymar then suffered the same fracture twice while under contract with PSG – in February 2018 and January 2019 – before having to undergo ankle surgery last March following a problem during the 2022 World Cup. PSG therefore knew what to expect…
