Javier Tebas has just submitted his resignation, and is therefore no longer the president of La Liga! News that has the effect of a bomb in Spain? Not really, since if the sulphurous Spanish lawyer and businessman left his post, it was to be able to represent himself and hope for a fourth term. It is therefore a simple administrative procedure to speed up the process which will allow him to be re-elected.
His mandate expired on December 26, and everything indicates that he will once again be “elected” president of La Liga. For the simple reason that he is the only candidate to occupy the position, and he will therefore become for the fourth consecutive time the boss of the Spanish championship, a role he has held since 2013. In ten years, Javier Tebas has established himself as a rather divisive character on the other side of the Pyrenees, not hesitating to clash with certain strong men of Iberian football like Florentino Pérez or the presidents of the Federation Angel Villar and Luis Rubiales. He also implemented very strict financial fair play for Spanish clubs and very regularly attacks state clubs like PSG. His detractors will have to put up with him for a while yet.
