Real Madrid defender David Alaba has denied speculation he is considering a return to his former club Bayern Munich.
The Austrian defender joined Bayern as a teenager and spent 13 years in Germany, including a year on loan at Hoffenheim. In 2021, he left Bayern for free to join Real Madrid after 431 matches in the Bavarian jersey. Alaba has struggled over the past 12 months due to injuries and a drop in form, prompting some media outlets to consider a return to Germany for him.
“I don’t think about the future. I feel very comfortable in Madrid.”
“ I love Real Madrid and I have very clear goals. I don’t think of anything else.”the player told journalist Fabrizio Romano while he was in the selection.
Alaba still has two and a half years left on his contract, and he will then be 34 when his Madrid lease expires. Bayern are highly unlikely to pay an exorbitant sum to get Alaba back, and as long as Carlo Ancelotti is in place, the Austrian should stay at Santiago Bernabéu. The Italian has always used Alaba when fit, considering him a vital part of his defense.
