Antoine Griezmann finally seems to have the recognition he deserves among his peers.
Since the start of the season, Samuel Lino has established himself as a key player for Atlético de Madrid. After the departure of Yannick Carrasco for Al-Shabab, Lino took the left-back position and his performances continued to improve from week to week.
Even when Carrasco was still at the club, Lino was willing to stay and fight for a place in Diego Simeone’s first team, as he told Diario AS.
“I only thought about being here. Enjoy the present moment, without thinking about what might happen next. I knew that Yannick was there, that Roro (Rodrigo Riquelme) was going to come back, but I only thought about working and doing my job, with peace of mind and without putting pressure on myself to know if I was going to leave or stay . What happens will be what fate dictates.”
During the interview, Lino also spoke highly of teammate Antoine Griezmann, both as a person and as a player.
“He deserves more (success). Antoine is extraordinary, he’s a great person, a great guy. He always gets along well with everyone, with the new ones like Galan, Riquelme or me. He always speaks well and approaches us to put us at ease. He is a good person and he shows his qualities and his performances. He is an example for everyone.”
Lino seems to be a very important player for Atlético Madrid, and if he continues to improve, this could be a very scary prospect for the 19 teams in La Liga.
