The bad news is piling up for Everton. On Friday, the Premier League officially announced a deduction of 10 penalty points for the Liverpool club. Enough to put the Toffees in 19th place, while they were 14th. The latter, who allegedly did not respect the rules of financial fair play, still appealed. That said, The Daily Mail reports that Everton could face further sanctions. Worse, Amadou Onana’s partners could lose points, again, 9 to be exact.
Burnley, Leicester and Leeds have the opportunity to almost seal Everton’s future in the Premier League. Indeed, these three clubs will very probably decide to sue the Toffees by claiming 100 million pounds sterling in compensation each, or 300 million in total to be paid for Everton, who is not in a position to pay such a sum. But the three English clubs will not do any favors, all of whom were relegated in seasons in which Everton were found guilty of excessive spending. Burnley, Leeds and Leicester have around 1 month to officially file their complaint, which could therefore push the Premier League to deduct 9 additional points from the Toffees, who would certainly be unable to compensate the three English clubs.
