Stéphane Moulin having decided to leave the Stade Malherbe de Caen a year before the end of his contract, the Norman club announced on Wednesday the arrival of Jean-Marc Furlan on his bench. Specialist in the rise in Ligue 1, the coach, fired by Auxerre in October 2022, has the mission to bring the SMC back into the elite.
” He signed up this Wednesday morning for the next two seasons, Jean-Marc Furlan is the new coach of Stade Malherbe Caen. Named best coach in the championship in 2012, 2017 & 2019, he is the coach with the most Ligue 1 promotions to his credit. Three times at the head of ESTAC and two others with Stade Brestois and AJ Auxerre. After the departure of Stéphane Moulin, it is again an experienced coach who takes the reins of the professional group since he should lead his 700th professional match under the colors of Stade Malherbe Caen.
Before joining ESTAC in Ligue 2 in 2004, he notably allowed FC Libourne to join the national level before. Recognized central defender, Jean-Marc Furlan has known several prestigious clubs as a player such as RC Lens, Girondins de Bordeaux or Olympique Lyonnais.
