Didier Deschamps spoke about a possible start for new kid Warren Zaire-Emery against Gibraltar this Saturday evening.
At only 17 years old, Warren Zaire-Emery was called up for the very first time for the France A team during this international window in November. The young Parisian could even experience his first selection during the Blues’ match against Gibraltar, this Saturday evening in Nice, for the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
“His week was very lively outside. Quiet in the group. Warren is calm, he can do nothing about the media environment where there is a lot of talk about him. The main thing is that he stays as he is, focused on the pitch. Natural “Didier Deschamps told journalists this Friday about the PSG nugget.
“He will be international tomorrow”
The French coach then assured that Zaire-Emery would experience his first selection this weekend, nevertheless leaving doubt about a possible tenure. “In the match, like the 23, he will be able to start. And if he doesn’t start, he will be international tomorrow (Saturday, against Gibraltar),” thus affirmed DD.
Warren Zaire-Emery should therefore beat Eduardo Camavinga’s record and become the youngest player to wear the blue tunic since 1914. He will be 17 years, 8 months and 10 days old on the date of the match against Gibraltar. He will not, however, beat the absolute record, held by Julien Verbrugghe (16 years, 10 months and 6 days in 1906), who is ahead of Maurice Gastiger (17 years, 4 months and 5 days in 1914).
