Frank McCourt has communicated the price for which he would be inclined to sell Olympique de Marseille.
Seven years after his arrival in Marseille, Frank McCourt is ready to pack up. No longer believing in his “Champions project” and busy with other projects that are a little more close to his heart, the American is now open to the idea of selling OM. But he won’t do it at any cost.
McCourt would sell OM for five times its purchase price
The businessman is willing to discuss with potential buyers if ever an offer of several hundred million euros is submitted to him. More precisely, he would say yes to a transfer if he obtains between 500 and 600 million for his property. This is what insider Romain Molina revealed, specifying that it was the American’s advisors who informed him of this assessment. As a reminder, McCourt only paid €100 million to buy the club from Margarita Louis-Dreyfus.
Notice to those interested. And there could well be some interested parties in the Middle East. The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) is still eyeing the Marseille club, even if it is slow to make official steps. A few months ago, he commissioned Julien Fournier, a veteran of the Marseille house, to take the temperature of the Commanderie side. He could do it again, this time with a concrete proposal.
McCourt and Longoria, their destinies are no longer linked
While Pablo Longoria recently affirmed that he was a long-term player in Marseille, we can no longer say the same about McCourt. The Bostonian no longer has any illusions. He knows that he will not be able to earn money thanks to OM, nor even obtain the sporting success that he hoped for. The idea of a sale therefore seems justified in his eyes and it is even more so at the moment, as long as the club’s finances are healthy. To be continued…
