Quite successful this season – 3 goals and 2 assists in the Premier League – Raheem Sterling was unfortunately not selected by Gareth Southgate. And it’s starting to become a habit. A new disillusionment for the English international (82 caps, 20 goals) who was targeted by the FA following the incident which occurred after Chelsea’s resounding victory against Tottenham on Monday evening (1-4).
Indeed, while the 28-year-old winger celebrated Cole Palmer’s equalizer from the penalty spot (1-1), a projectile passed very close to him. Until now, nothing new. Unfortunately, Raheem Sterling had the bad reflex to retaliate by sending this one back, towards the Spurs fans. A gesture examined by the FA, which fortunately will not have serious consequences, since the former Manchester City player will not be prosecuted. Chelsea can therefore take a breather, Sterling too.
