The French coach, Didier Deschamps, resents the fact that Adrien Rabiot wears the armband at Juventus.
When he was in the best period of his career, Didier Deschamps wore the colors of the prestigious Italian club Juventus. He even won the Champions League there in 1996 (against Ajax). Despite his five years with the Bianconeri (from 1994 to 1999), he never had the chance to wear the captain’s armband.
Deschamps: “That Rabiot is captain at Juventus bothers me”
Adrien Rabiot has this privilege. The former Parisian was indeed fortunate to benefit from the captaincy this season from Massimiliano Allegri. This obviously did not escape the attention of Didier Deschamps. “I was never captain at Juventus. That he is, it bothers me a little”, he declared at a press conference on Thursday. In a humorous tone of course.
More seriously, DD indicated that he was very proud of what Rabiot accomplished in Piedmont: “ He is at an age of maturity. He has the armband, he has a little more responsibility. But that should not change his character, nor his way of being. It is through everything he does on the field that he is a driving force, that he leads others. Being at a big foreign club, being the captain. It’s a great sign of confidence that his trainer has in him. »
💬 Didier Deschamps: “France continues to perform well in training through the work that is done in the clubs, even if players go abroad earlier and earlier. »

And when asked if Rabiot is not a little too shy to be captain of a team, Deschamps retorts: “On a human level, I have no worries. It shouldn’t weigh on him. He’s a reserved person, he doesn’t talk about himself too much. But what he has been doing on the field for several years is at a high level.”
The time when the two men were in conflict because of a non-selection for the World Cup (that of 2018) seems a long way away today.
