The World Cup was an important milestone in Axel Disasi’s career. It allowed him to take a step forward and become a world-class player.

Called up at the last minute to the World Cup with the Blues, Axel Disasi took part in the Tricolores’ campaign in Qatar. A journey during which the Chelsea central defender played 90 minutes against Tunisia (0-1) in the round of 16, as well as two brief entries against Poland and against Argentina in the final (3-3, 2-4 tab ). A significant experience, despite the lack of playing time he had, which contributed to his rise within his former club AS Monaco.

“The World Cup has clearly changed me,” declared the Gonessien in an interview given to The Team. There is a before and an after. Already, the status changes by being in the French team, then it goes up when you start playing, then by playing the final it’s something else again. When I returned to Monaco, I was told that I was no longer the same player. I had to become an executive and do more, especially off the field, in group life. It changed my status. The outlook has changed, but so have I,” said the 2022 world vice-champion.
