The Parisians contested Olivier Giroud’s achievement against them. Right or wrong ?
PSG found itself with its back against the wall this Tuesday evening during its opposition against AC Milan. At the very start of the second half, the French champions found themselves behind by taking a goal from Olivier Giroud’s head.
PSG surprised by Giroud
After this achievement, Luis Enrique’s men ran to the referee to challenge the validity of the goal. They believed that the game was stopped after contact between Achraf Hakimi and Rafael Leao in the area.
The referee did not flinch and indicated the point of the central circle. He was also not contacted by his VAR colleagues. There was therefore no debate on the legitimacy of the goal scored by Giroud.
There was in fact no reason to cancel the construction of the premises. Even if there was a mistake in the previous sequence, the Parisians were wrong to remain passive and wait for an intervention from the man in black. To their great dismay, there were 1-2 and this is the 2e time they found themselves behind in this Champions League. The first time was in Newcastle and we know how it ended.
