The Magpies inflicted their very first defeat of the season on Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend (1-0). A disillusionment, inevitably, for the Gunners who drop points against a competitor, they who still do not understand certain decisions taken by the referee during the match. So much so that the London club issued a press release to denounce the refereeing errors in the wake of X. Mikel Arteta, very angry after the setback, nevertheless attracted the wrath. And for good reason, Michael Owen does not seem to have appreciated the attitude of Arsenal and their coach.
“The Newcastle United v Arsenal game yesterday was great to watch. Two top teams battling it out. The only thing (in his words) “embarrassing” and “shameful” was Arteta’s behavior. A common occurrence that damages the game more than any bad decision. For his club to now issue a statement complaining about the standard of refereeing is lamentable and unfortunately, for a team of Arsenal’s standard, totally classless.”, writes Michael Owen, former Liverpool glory. The message got through.
