Offers from Manchester City and Liverpool were higher than those from Real Madrid, but the midfielder was determined to join the Bernabeu.

Bellingham has hit his stride since his €103 million move from Borussia Dortmund to Real in the summer. His double in the Clasico allowed him to score 13 goals in his first 13 matches, in all competitions.

But City and Liverpool had done everything to recruit him. The Premier League giants presented significant offers, superior to those of Real in purely financial terms, but Los Blancos managed to come out on top.

“Madrid made a theft in its transfer strategy”, says Marca. “Their offer was huge, but infinitely lower than that of Manchester City, Liverpool or Manchester United.
